L'oiseau Bleu - the Blue Bird - is the turbulent love story of Prince Charming and the beautiful princess Florine. With the requisite evil step-mother and a fair dose of fairy-magic, this is the tale of all the misfortunes that beset the lovers on their way to fulfill their love.
Written by the Baroness d’Aulnoy at the turn of the 18th century, L’oiseau Bleu is a prime example of female literature from a time when female authors were rarely appreciated. Interweaving short segments from the story with musical excerpts from the French Baroque, the Nari ensemble presents here a beautiful instrumental program which takes the audience on a fascinating emotional journey, all the way to the inevitable happy ending.
